Our Director, Prof. Wael Farouq, was invited to Cairo to open the discussion at the Cultural Studies Forum, to introduce the session “The Arabic Language and the Challenges of Digital Transformation,” organized by the Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).
The IDSC is a government think tank established in 1985 with the mission of supporting decision-making in Egypt through research and analysis in key economic, social and political fields.
The forum provided an important opportunity for discussion on the role of the Arabic language in the context of digital transformation and on the challenges posed by the development of new technologies, artificial intelligence,and computational linguistics. Among the distinguished guests were Mohamed Salem, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Khaled Elghamry, Professor of Computational Linguistics and Artificial Intelligence at Indiana University in the United States.
The event forms part of the broader international debate on the future of the Arabic language in the age of artificial intelligence and on the opportunities offered by digital technologies across a wide range of fields.
